SKIN RESURFACING WITH LASER

Skin Resurfacing and Scar Treatment Via Laser Skin

Today, laser technologies are rapidly taking their place in many treatments in the field of health and even surpassing traditional treatments, skin resurfacing has also taken its share from this developing technology.

The first laser types that come to mind in skin resurfacing treatments are carbon dioxide and erbium lasers, but also Nd:YAG lasers, Q-switched lasers and cut-off-filter IPL lasers are the laser types used in skin resurfacing.

Skin Resurfacing Lasers Used in our Clinic

CARBON DIOXIDE LASER 1540nm
ERBIUM GLAS 10600nm
MIXED-PULSE ERBIUM + CARBON DIOXIDE LASERS 1540 nm + 10600nm
Q-SWITCHED Nd:YAG LASER 1064
IPL LASER SPOT AND CAPILLARIES 550 nm
IPL LASER SKIN RESURFACING 570 nm
IPL LASER REDNESS AND ACNE 400nm

The aim of skin resurfacing treatments is to restore the old strength and vitality of the skin, which has lost its elasticity and is prone to sagging. In fractional carbon dioxide and erbium laser, the laser energy is applied in fractions (divided small doses). Intact skin islets are left between the laser energies that are given in small columns. Thus, the aging collagen and elastin fibers under the skin are eliminated without damaging the skin surface too much. This deeply-controlled skin damage initiated under the skin has minimal visible effects on the skin surface. A new stimulation is initiated to replace the destroyed collagen and elastin fibers to synthesize a new one. Completion of the new collagen synthesis takes about 1 month. On the surface of the skin, there is minimal redness and only pinhead-sized, point-like peeling occurs in the areas where the laser beams enter the skin, and the redness and peeling of the skin are completely recovered in approximately 1 week. The skin resurfacing effects of laser treatments begin to be visible after 1 month. A vivid and bright skin begins to form, which has gained firmer and tighter elasticity.

These treatments are also preferred for their subcutaneous regenerative properties in the treatment of wounds, burns, surgical scars, acne scars and fractures. In scar treatments, the laser is used with the same principle by helping the damaged tissue to be resurfaced to achieve a younger and healthier skin appearance.

Nd: YAG, Q-switched lasers and IPL lasers are also benefited in terms of their skin resurfacing features. While these laser types reach deep tissues, they do not cause any damage on the skin surface. Minimal skin peeling observed in fractional lasers is not seen in these lasers. The laser beams reaching the subcutaneous skin initiates a biostimulation (stimulation) for tissue regeneration. Another common feature of these lasers is that they are preferred for rubor and blemished skin, as they reduce the tonal differences such as redness and blemishes on the skin. No peeling is seen after these laser applications. Redness is minimal and disappears in approximately 2-3 days.

When laser treatments are preferred for skin resurfacing and scars, an average of 3 to 8 sessions can be applied. It varies according to the needs of the person, the depth of the trace, and the application area. Session intervals are about 15-45 days. Your doctor will determine the session intervals by considering healing of the tissue, scar depth, and the application area.

Laser treatments are combined with other treatments in both skin resurfacing and scar treatments in order to increase effectiveness. Among them, PRP (platelet rich plasma) is on the first rank. Platelet cells obtained from the person’s own blood and containing the growth factor are implemented under the skin to contribute to the resurfacing of the tissue damages or applied on the skin surface as a serum to be absorbed from the pores opened by farx laser. The effects of platelets in renewing the tissue damage strengthen the effects of the laser.

Lasers can also be combined with the treatments such as mesotherapy. Thus, serums containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids, growth factors, salmon DNA, hyaluronic acid, and collagen can be applied in different sessions during the procedure in subsequent time periods at the session intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Supporting the support that the skin needs via mesotherapy makes a positive contribution to tissue recovery. At the same time, mesotherapy products containing spot lightening are applied together with this type of laser in spot treatments by increasing the success of spot treatment.

Another treatment combined with laser treatments is golden needle fractional radiofrequency energy. Golden needle treatments can be included in the treatment simultaneously with laser treatments or in intermediate sessions, and by this means, tissue regeneration is accelerated, the treatment period is shortened, and the success of the treatment is increased.

It is important that you do not neglect the care recommended by your doctor after laser treatments. The reason is that the recovery of the damaged tissue depends on the post-procedural care as well as the quality of the procedure. Cold applications made immediately after the procedure reduce the burning and stinging sensation. It helps in the early elimination of redness. However, since excessive and long-term ice treatments can cause ice burns, it is recommended to be done at short intervals. It is recommended to leave it after the burning sensation has passed. Do not forget to apply your recommended tissue regeneration creams and sunscreen after the procedure. Exposure to the sun without sunscreen with the redness occurred after the procedure increases the risk of blemishes. Even if the winter period is preferred, it is recommended to use your sunscreen regularly for at least one week after the procedure. Care is very important for the skin with continuing tissue regeneration process. Hot applications, Turkish bath, and sauna are not preferred after the procedure, irritating procedures such as rubbing, home peeling, and scratching should be avoided and moisturizing and restorative creams should be used. In addition, never use the blemish lightening creams without consulting your doctor. Since many blemish lightening creams also provide some peeling effect, they can increase irritation after the procedure. Do not forget to get information from your doctor about this.
