Laser hair removal may not be an effective treatment for every hair type. Since laser hair removal is operated with the principle of all or nothing, it completely destroys the hairs affected, but it may not have any sufficient effect on light-colored and thin hairs. It can even strengthen thin hairs by increasing blood supply with the heat effect spread. In this case, which is called secondary hypertrichosis, there is no hair growth from the hairless area, but the existing peach fuzz becomes more evident.
If you have a hair structure that is prone to triggering, which is a common condition in the facial area, your doctor who evaluated you for laser hair removal before the procedure, will not want to apply laser hair removal procedure for you.
In such cases where laser hair removal is not preferred, hair yellowing is recommended for the patients who are uncomfortable with their existing unwanted hair.
Hair yellowing is applied by Q-switched laser. Black-brown hairs are transformed into yellow and their visibility is reduced. It provides relief for patients who do not want to use wax, razor blades, or depilatories. It is not a permanent solution. It can be repeated at intervals of 2-3 months on average. It is seen that hair follicles weaken over time with repeated laser sessions.
It is a painless method. It takes about 15-30 minutes on average. After the procedure, problems such as redness, wounds, etc. that will affect daily life are not expected to occur.
